BD Bhaskar Das
Mountaineer & Trainer
Jalpaiguri, West Bengal, India
About
Bhaskar Das grew up in the lush landscapes of Jalpaiguri at the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas - surrounded by rivers, forests, mountains, and a constant pull toward the outdoors. At just 15, a seven-day adventure camp changed the direction of his life. A year later, he joined the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI) in Darjeeling, beginning his formal journey into mountaineering.
By 19, he had already participated in expeditions across the Greater Himalayas and later returned to HMI as a guest instructor, mentoring the next generation of mountaineers. Today, Bhaskar represents a rare combination of technical expertise, leadership under pressure, and a deep belief that adventure can transform people.

In His Words
"Mountains teach you that limits are rarely physical. Most of the time, they exist only in the mind. Once you learn to trust yourself, every summit becomes possible."
Community & Affiliations
Bhaskar actively volunteers with leading national and international organisations and works extensively with young adventurers - building confidence, discipline, and a stronger relationship with nature. His work supports community-based tourism and sustainable outdoor development in mountain regions.
Why He Writes
Through Outdoor Goats, Bhaskar shares field knowledge, expedition insights, mountain safety practices, and lessons from years spent in remote terrain - helping more people experience the outdoors with confidence, responsibility, and curiosity. Whether leading an expedition, teaching technical skills, or mentoring first-time trekkers, his goal remains the same: to make the mountains feel accessible, meaningful, and life-changing.
